If state law enforcement officers repeatedly use excessive force against the public or prisoners, they may have their certification denied or withdrawn.
Relevant Excerpt
The Training Act and corresponding regulations allow the Law Enforcement Training Council to withdraw and/or deny certification to an officer if the officer has committed misconduct as defined in SC. Code of Laws Section 23-23-150. This applies to officers who are commissioned by the state (Sheriffs, state trooper, etc.) Misconduct also includes (c) the repeated use of excessive force in dealing with the public or prisoners.
